Coinbase Freezes $3M More in Scam Crypto as DOJ Widens Disruption Week
On June 5, Coinbase expanded its enforcement actions by freezing an additional $3 million tied to Southeast Asian scam networks as part of the ongoing DOJ-led Disruption Week. The operation, involving the FBI, Secret Service, Meta, Microsoft and Starlink, has now blocked over 1.4 million accounts and produced a Thai arrest. This follows Singapore’s June 4 announcement that its coordinated campaigns prevented more than $7 million in losses, while Bitcoin’s 17% weekly slide to $61,556 triggered $4.47 billion in liquidations. The combined regulatory pressure underscores accelerating cross-border cooperation even as short-term market volatility persists.
