CME to Launch 24/7 Gold Futures Trading from July 26

CME Group announced plans on June 12 to introduce round-the-clock trading for its one-ounce gold futures contract starting July 26, followed by a smaller WTI oil contract on August 30. This exchange-level move follows broker innovations, including Match-Prime Liquidity’s June 3 launch of 24/7 CFDs on gold and other assets via its CySEC entity, and CMC Markets’ June 10 rollout of weekend gold CFDs in Australia after a UK debut in April. The developments respond to demand for continuous hedging tools amid gold’s volatility after surging from roughly $2,640 in early 2025 to over $5,500 before retreating below its 200-day EMA.
