Casa Launches Four Security Features to Combat Rising Social Engineering Attacks on Bitcoin Holders
Casa rolled out four live security features aimed at reducing social-engineering-driven crypto theft, which the FBI says drove crypto fraud losses up 22% year-over-year to over $11 billion in 2025. The features—Guardian Mode (two-advisor live video verification plus a 48-hour hold), address whitelisting (48-hour activation and disable delays), suspicious-login detection (city-level sign-in checks with data deleted after 48 hours) and phone-call detection (requires advisor verification code if sending funds during an active call)—are live now. These measures should bolster confidence in self-custody, lower successful fraud losses, and could support greater on-chain retention and adoption by reducing the perceived risk of holding BTC.
