“Bullion Should Not Be Treated as Just Another CFD Product,” Insights from FM Singapore Summit 2026

At the FM Singapore Summit 2026 (May 12–14) industry leaders argued that bullion (gold) in APAC requires different treatment than a standard CFD due to physical-market complexities: storage, insurance, transportation, delivery logistics and purity standards. Panelists from Integral, World Gold Council, CMC Markets and others said cultural preferences and regional infrastructure make custody and market structure critical for brokers and liquidity providers. The event also highlighted growth in prop trading, trade-as-a-service, digital-asset tokenization and banks’ roles in infrastructure, signalling product, custody and settlement adaptations rather than pure marketing shifts. Overall, the summit emphasised market-structure changes with implications for broker product design, vaulting/custody services and institutional support for physical and digital asset flows.
