Bitfinex Ethereum Short Positions Surpass 101,000 ETH After 13,000% Two-Week Surge

Ethereum short positions on Bitfinex have skyrocketed roughly 13,000% in two weeks from 771 ETH to over 101,000 ETH, creating risks of a short squeeze as ETH trades near $2,652. The bearish buildup surged past a 51-month high of 73,056 ETH recorded on September 24. Heavy shorting coincides with strong resistance between $2,722 and $2,822, where 13.3 million ETH previously traded. Concurrently, whale wallets accumulated more than 320,000 ETH worth approximately $864 million over seven days, while staked ETH reached a record 43.5 million ETH.
