Bitcoin ETFs Bleed $1B Weekly Outflows, Snapping Six-Week Inflow Streak
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $1 billion in net outflows for the week ending May 16, ending a six-week inflow run that had attracted $3.4 billion since early April. The reversal followed strong daily inflows including $532 million on May 5, $467 million on May 6, $220 million on May 12, and $131 million on May 14, which had pushed cumulative May inflows above $2.4 billion and total AUM past $105 billion. Late-week selling accelerated the shift, with $635 million exiting on May 13 alone, while Bitcoin held near $80,000-$81,000 amid rotation into AI equities and lingering macro uncertainty. The streak marked the longest consecutive inflow period since August 2025 and reinforced institutional demand via regulated products.
