Bitcoin dominance holds strong at over 60% — Is altseason still on hold?

The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a notable resurgence across alternative digital assets, with the market capitalization of tokens outside the top 10 jumping approximately 23%. This marks their strongest weekly rally in months, bouncing off the long-standing $150 billion to $160 billion support zone. Concurrently, the total altcoin market capitalization (TOTAL2) pushed back above the key $1 trillion threshold, hovering around $1.03 trillion. Furthermore, approximately 56% of Binance-listed altcoins are now trading above their 200-day moving averages, up sharply from 15% to 20% in the previous year. Despite this strong momentum in altcoins, an official 'altseason' remains on hold as Bitcoin maintains a decisive grip on broader market share. Bitcoin dominance (BTC.D) continues to hold steady above 60%, recorded at 60.25%. Moreover, the CoinGlass Altcoin Season Index recently dropped to 36, remaining well beneath the traditional 75 benchmark needed to confirm capital rotation away from Bitcoin into altcoins. Until Bitcoin dominance shows a definitive breakdown, Bitcoin is expected to maintain market leadership.
