Bitcoin Derivatives Open Interest Reaches $56.7 Billion Ahead of U.S. Jobs Data

Bitcoin derivatives open interest reached approximately $56.7 billion as BTC traded above $86,000 ahead of the U.S. September jobs report. Outstanding positions expanded by roughly 27,000 BTC, or about $2.3 billion, between September 30 and October 2, with funding rates climbing as prices moved toward $86,500. This followed an earlier surge where 24-hour open interest grew by nearly 9,000 BTC and a buying-pressure metric hit 4.9, its highest reading since August 19. Analysts caution that elevated leverage and funding rates create vulnerability to liquidations if the macroeconomic print triggers market turbulence.
