Binance TradFi contracts surge to $60.3B weekly volume
Binance’s TradFi perpetual contracts saw explosive growth, recording $60.3 billion in weekly volume in the week of May 24, now representing 10.3% of all perpetual futures on the exchange. Market share shifted markedly from metals to energy and stocks between February and May (metals 96%→50%; energy 4%→30%; stocks 0%→21%), driven by new listings and investor demand for crypto-based access to stocks, energy and precious metals. Notable movers included Brent crude futures and silver contracts, while stock-linked contracts such as MU.OQ saw dramatic volume spikes (MU: $391M daily, 35x month-on-month). Binance Research says TradFi perpetuals have moved beyond experimental status and are providing reliable liquidity—a development likely to broaden crypto investors’ exposure to traditional asset classes and increase cross-market liquidity.
