Binance Futures names USD1 its primary settlement asset
Binance Futures launched the BTCUSD1 perpetual contract on 18 May 2026 (09:00 UTC), the first Binance perpetual to use USD1 as the trading and settlement asset. Profits, losses and funding payments on the contract will be realized in USD1, and the product offers up to 100x leverage. The move shifts USD1 from a collateral-only role to a direct settlement currency on a major exchange, likely boosting on-chain settlement demand and wider USD1 adoption. USD1’s market cap is about $4.5 billion (from a peak near $5.3B), its supply topped $4 billion by April 2026, and the broader stablecoin market reached roughly $315 billion by end-Q1 2026 — a ~32% year-over-year gain.
