Billionaire investor Ron Baron on Tesla: The time to buy the stock is now
Billionaire investor and Baron Capital founder Ron Baron expressed an emphatically bullish stance on Tesla (TSLA) during an interview on CNBC's Squawk Box, asserting that now is the optimal time for investors to buy the stock. Baron emphasized that Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology is reaching a critical inflection point in adoption and capability, which will serve as a massive catalyst for future growth and competitive divergence against legacy automakers. Baron noted that legacy automotive competitors are stepping back from aggressive electric vehicle investments after incurring significant losses, allowing Tesla's market share to rebound and expand in the United States and global markets. Addressing speculation regarding whether SpaceX could make a bid to merge or acquire Tesla, Baron stated that he has discussed the pros and cons with Elon Musk and would support Musk's ultimate strategic decision. Baron Capital currently manages roughly $30 billion across Elon Musk-led enterprises, including approximately $25 billion in SpaceX and over $5 billion in Tesla. Baron highlighted that his firm has generated $71 billion in client profits over time, with over $30 billion attributed directly to Musk's companies.
