Berkshire May Have Sold $15 Billion of Stocks Run by Former Manager
Berkshire Hathaway appears to have sold roughly $15 billion of stocks in Q1 that had been managed by Todd Combs after his December departure, according to reports. CEO Greg Abel now oversees about 94% of Berkshire’s roughly $300 billion equity portfolio, with Ted Weschler managing about 6%. Potentially divested names include Amazon, Constellation Brands, VeriSign, Capital One, Visa, Mastercard and Kroger, while longstanding Buffett holdings such as Apple, American Express, Coca‑Cola, Occidental and Chevron remain under Buffett’s influence. Berkshire’s detailed Q1 buys and sells will be disclosed in its 10‑Q (expected May 2) and 13‑F (around May 15). The moves signal continued net selling by Berkshire and could pressure smaller holdings that were concentrated in Combs’s sleeve, though the firm appears unlikely to hire a replacement portfolio manager.
