AUD/USD Stabilizes Near 0.6881 as RBA Hike Odds Hold

AUD/USD stabilized near 0.6881 on June 25 after a sharp weekly selloff, as Australian inflation, jobs and spending data kept the prospect of an August RBA rate hike alive. On June 24 the pair slipped to 0.6893 despite May unemployment falling to 4.4% and employment rising 40.3K, with markets still pricing only a 30% chance of tightening. BofA noted the currency had turned net short for the first time since January and was testing support at 0.6850, while warning of near-term headwinds from a strong dollar. Core inflation accelerated to 3.6% and household spending rebounded 1.3%, providing modest fundamental support but not enough to reverse bearish technical momentum.
