Aster DEX Introduces Permissionless Listing Vote, Empowering Staked Validators
Aster DEX launched a permissionless “Listing Vote” allowing any validator staking at least 20 million ASTER to propose and vote on new listings via on-chain governance. The inaugural proposal—open May 15 through May 22 UTC—seeks to add BTC/U and ETH/U perpetual futures, which would expand derivative access on the DEX and potentially boost liquidity and trading activity for those markets on Aster. Tying listing power to staked tokens may encourage longer-term holding and active governance, but places vetting responsibility on the community. If adopted widely, the model could attract projects seeking transparent, lower-cost listings versus centralized venues and shift competitive dynamics in DEX listings and liquidity provision.
