Apple Pay chief Jennifer Bailey to retire in October - report
Apple is preparing for a leadership transition in its payments and wallet division as Jennifer Bailey, the executive who has overseen Apple Pay and Wallet since 2014, is set to retire at the end of October after more than 20 years at the company. According to Bloomberg, services chief Eddy Cue informed staff that Bailey will stay on in an advisory role during the handoff, and Apple will announce a succession plan before her departure. The news is strategically relevant because Apple Pay is a major driver of Apple’s financial-services expansion, supports iPhone customer retention, and is estimated to generate more than $7.5 billion in annual revenue. While the departure does not change Apple’s core business immediately, investors may view the transition as a potential execution risk for a high-margin services segment that has helped deepen the company’s ecosystem and monetization beyond hardware.
