Apple explores screenless fitness tracker similar to Whoop - Bloomberg
Apple Inc. (AAPL) is actively exploring the development of a screenless health and fitness tracker designed to compete with products from Whoop Inc., according to a report from Bloomberg News. The project represents an effort by the tech giant to broaden its wearable technology portfolio beyond the display-focused Apple Watch. The initiative remains in an early stage known internally as a technology investigation, with Apple engineers currently constructing prototypes featuring a thin fabric band combined with a sensor-packed computing module. The project has garnered support from senior leadership, including Executive Chairman Tim Cook and services head Eddy Cue, though a commercial release is not anticipated before 2028 if the company decides to proceed. Following the news, Apple shares rose by 1.11% to trade at $342.75, while shares of wearable rival Garmin experienced downward pressure. If brought to market, the device could expand Apple's health hardware footprint into the dedicated recovery and minimal-distraction fitness tracking segment.
