Ancient Bitcoin Wallet That Turned $120 Into $3 Million Wakes Up
Blockchain analytics from Galaxy Research revealed that four long-dormant Bitcoin wallets became active between August 29 and September 4, moving a total of 202.84 BTC valued at approximately $15.73 million. The largest transfer involved a wallet holding 146.06 BTC (around $11.31 million) that had been inactive since November 2013, registering a 12,902% gain. Another prominent wallet containing 40 BTC from November 2011 achieved an extraordinary gain of over 2.5 million percent, converting a $120 initial cost into more than $3 million. Two smaller wallets moved 10 BTC and 6.78 BTC respectively, with the 6.78 BTC transfer traced directly to a Coinbase deposit address, typically indicating an intent to sell on the open market. In addition, several of the moving wallets carried sender tags associated with the 'Noah Doe' lawsuit in New York regarding abandoned property claims. These transfers continue an ongoing trend throughout 2026 where vintage coins dormant for over a decade are moving at historically elevated rates, reigniting market discussions about previously lost supply returning to circulation.
