Amkor working with AMD on advanced packaging after acquiring more land in Arizona
Amkor said it is working with AMD on advanced chip packaging and has bought 67 additional acres in Arizona beside a 104‑acre site where it plans production starting in 2028. Amkor is shifting into more complex packaging, using some TSMC technology at its Arizona facility and already has disclosed work with Nvidia and Apple. At an investor event Amkor forecast $8.5–$9.5 billion revenue in 2028 (midpoint $9.0B) and $11B by 2030; the 2028 midpoint was slightly below analyst expectations ($9.1B) and Amkor shares fell about 2.6% after the update. Market impact: expanded packaging capacity and closer AMD-Amkor integration could ease a key bottleneck for multi‑chip data center products, a positive for AMD’s production outlook, while Amkor’s cautious guidance weighed on its stock.
