American Men Lead Crypto Adoption as 31% Prioritize Privacy Over Banking Norms
A survey of 1,002 Americans by crypto payments platform Oobit indicates a steady shift of everyday financial tasks from banks to crypto wallets: 51% of U.S. wallet users now rely on crypto for at least one daily task. The report highlights notable use-cases — 46% use digital assets to save long-term, 41% to hold between transactions, ~30% for online purchases and nearly half of regular cross-border senders favor crypto for remittances. Privacy (28%) and, specifically for men (31%), privacy-driven adoption are important drivers. However, adoption remains partial: 55% fear irreversible loss of access, keeping major financial functions (life savings, retirement, salaries, taxes) with banks. Market impact: continued incremental adoption supports crypto demand and utility, especially for payments and remittances, but structural custody/recovery concerns may limit large-scale shifts of high-value assets into crypto for now.
