AMD Takes Quieter China Path

AMD is taking a lower-key approach in China compared with Nvidia’s high-profile push, but the market remains strategically important. China represents about 20% of AMD’s revenue across PCs, gaming and some data-center products. AMD holds roughly 4% of China’s AI chip market (IDC) but can reach customers via CPUs, consumer GPUs, AI chipsets and programmable chips. U.S. export controls and less-mature software (ROCm vs. Nvidia’s CUDA) limit near-term upside, though Nvidia’s China constraints could create longer-term openings for AMD if it accelerates software and product availability.
