AMD Plans Tens of Billions in Investments to Boost Chip Supply in 2027
Advanced Micro Devices is planning to invest tens of billions of dollars to eliminate supply-chain bottlenecks and substantially boost semiconductor capacity by 2027. Chief Executive Lisa Su announced the strategic push during an Asian tour spanning Taiwan and South Korea, where she held talks with TSMC, Foxconn, Samsung Electronics, and SK Hynix. The effort includes reiterating a $10 billion investment commitment in Taiwan and securing high-bandwidth memory supplies such as HBM4. The aggressive expansion follows AMD surpassing a $1 trillion market capitalization as AI compute demand outpaces available industry supply.
