Amazon's new podcast strategy: Monetize everything
Amazon has restructured its podcast business into a commerce-driven model, moving audio-only shows under Audible and creating a Creator Services unit to work with on-camera talent. The company cut more than 100 Wondery jobs in August 2025 and over the past six months has pivoted to monetize content beyond traditional ads — for example, building an Amazon storefront “Kelce Clubhouse” to sell merchandise, documentary access and recommended party products around the Kelce brothers’ podcast. The shift signals Amazon is integrating content and e-commerce to unlock new revenue streams from podcasts, a strategic change that could diversify monetization and influence investor expectations for Amazon’s services and ad/commerce growth prospects.
