Amazon Prime Video Secures Exclusive Six-Year Global Emmy Awards Streaming Rights

Amazon Prime Video has secured an exclusive six-year global broadcast agreement with the Television Academy to host the Emmy Awards starting with the 2027 ceremony. The move transitions the award show away from traditional linear networks to Amazon's subscription streaming service, aiming to boost global subscriber growth and digital advertising. The announcement coincided with Amazon's 48-hour Prime Big Deal Days shopping event spanning over 35 categories through October 7. Amazon, which carries a 23.29% weighting in the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY), gained 2.1% over the five trading days through October 5.
