Amazon makes it easier to buy what you see on Prime Video

Amazon announced a significant expansion of its e-commerce capabilities within Prime Video, introducing enhanced shopping integrations designed to turn video streaming into a direct sales channel. Viewers can now discover and purchase items seen on screen through an upgraded X-Ray interface and a new "Shop the Scene" feature powered by Amazon Lens visual search technology. The updated functionality allows viewers to pause content on Fire TV or open their mobile Amazon Shopping app to view synchronized product feeds matching the current scene, including character outfits and home decor. The "Shop the Scene" feature is currently available on iOS and Android in the United States across more than 600 titles, while the companion "Shop the Show" catalog expanded from 1,300 titles to over 8,000 titles covering Prime Originals, licensed films, and live sports broadcasts. This move strengthens Amazon's digital retail moat by capitalizing on shoppable entertainment, competing with similar initiatives across streaming platforms like Disney and Roku, and creating a frictionless pathway to monetize its extensive content library directly through retail sales.
