Amazon Lands Its Biggest Airline Customer for In-Flight Satellite Internet

Amazon has signed Delta Air Lines as a customer for its Amazon Leo satellite broadband service, marking a larger commercial win after JetBlue and signaling progress against SpaceX’s Starlink. Amazon has launched 241 Leo satellites and plans more than 90 additional launches to ultimately field over 3,000 satellites; the public rollout is slated for mid-2026. SpaceX retains a commanding lead with more than 10,000 Starlink satellites and service in 150+ countries and has already signed United, Southwest, and Alaska as airline customers. Amazon has budgeted roughly $10 billion for Leo; Delta expects to begin equipping 500 planes in 2028. Analysts note Leo could add roughly $8B+ of annual revenue over time, modestly improving Amazon’s growth rate. The Delta deal is a material commercial validation for Amazon Leo but the piece frames Amazon’s prospects as promising yet still playing catch-up to Starlink.
