Amazon Invests Another $1.9 Billion in the Delivery Service Partner Program with New Safety Initiatives and AI-Powered Technology
Amazon has announced an additional $1.9 billion investment into its Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program for 2027. This capital injection brings Amazon's cumulative support for DSPs and their delivery associates to $21.7 billion over the program's eight-year lifespan. The new funding aims to help DSP owners raise Delivery Associate compensation to a national average of nearly $24 per hour, representing an estimated 16% wage increase across the past three years. Beyond compensation, the initiative emphasizes safety enhancements and AI-driven logistics efficiency. Amazon is expanding deployment of its AI-powered mapping tool, Wellspring, alongside computer-vision-equipped Smart Delivery Glasses, targeting over 20,000 devices in the field by year-end 2027. Safety features also include surround-view cameras set to equip 50% of electric delivery vehicles by the end of this year, building on safety improvements that reduced serious crashes by over 23% last year. Additionally, Amazon committed $70 million over the next five years to DSP-led community impact initiatives.
