Amazon India Quick Commerce Sales Cross $1B: Can the Momentum Last?
Amazon's quick-commerce division in India, Amazon Now, has crossed $1 billion in annualized gross sales over the trailing three months, marking the fastest scale-up of any e-commerce unit in the company's India history. Order volumes have doubled quarterly since launch, reaching approximately 700,000 daily orders. This gives Amazon roughly a 10% market share by orders and 14% by value in India's highly competitive instant-delivery space. The service expanded fourfold across more than 60 cities using a network of over 750 micro-fulfillment centers. Amazon plans to expand coverage to 100 cities by Diwali and build 1,000 dark stores by year-end, with a broader goal of reaching over 300 cities nationwide. Additionally, the company is testing a Hindi-language version of Alexa+ to deepen local engagement. Despite heavy capital expenditures required for dark stores and fierce competition from established rivals like Blinkit, Zepto, and Walmart-backed Flipkart Minutes, Amazon's rapid progress strengthens its international footprint. Year-to-date, AMZN shares are up 7.6%, trading at a forward P/E of 21.99X with a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
