Amazon Explores Offloading $8 Billion of Nvidia AI Chips via Special-Purpose Vehicle
Amazon is exploring plans to offload approximately $8 billion worth of advanced Nvidia artificial intelligence chips to outside investors through a special-purpose vehicle. Under the proposed leaseback structure, Amazon would transfer thousands of Nvidia Grace Blackwell semiconductors deployed across more than a dozen data centers in five states to the vehicle. The entity would raise capital from external institutional investors through debt issuances, with an equity stake of up to 10% offered. The asset-light maneuver aims to optimize Amazon's balance sheet as its capital expenditures are projected to exceed $200 billion this year.
