Amazon Commits $1.9 Billion to Delivery Partner Program for Wages, Safety, and AI

Amazon announced an additional $1.9 billion investment into its Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program for 2027 to boost driver compensation and expand logistics technology. The funding helps lift average associate pay to nearly $24 per hour, representing an estimated 16% rise over three years, while bringing cumulative program support to $21.7 billion. The push introduces AI-powered Smart Delivery Glasses, dynamic hazard routing, and surround-view cameras on 50% of Rivian electric delivery vans by year-end. This rollout aligns with Amazon's Project Mercury plan to expand same-day delivery hubs to over 1,000 by 2031.
