Amazon cargo delivery company files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

CLJ Transporting, a Florida-based dedicated Amazon Freight Partner, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the Florida Middle Bankruptcy Court. Operating since 2005 out of Winter Haven, Florida, the midsize carrier has handled regional deliveries for Amazon across a 200-mile radius with a fleet of 18 trucks and 34 employees. The company's financial distress was primarily driven by increasing interest expenses stemming from several short-term financing agreements, alongside broader industry headwinds including rising fuel costs, higher insurance premiums, and maintenance expenditures. While Amazon works with more than 50,000 third-party carriers globally and maintains an internal fleet exceeding 80,000 semitrucks to handle roughly 15 to 17.2 million daily orders, the bankruptcy highlights escalating margin pressures across the logistics supply chain. CLJ Transporting intends to restructure its operations and continue business, with a hearing scheduled for October 14. This filing follows several other trucking insolvencies and reflects ongoing margin compression in the freight sector despite elevated overall e-commerce shipping volumes.
