Amazon and Constellation Sign 20-Year Nuclear Power Agreement to Add 190 Megawatts

Amazon and Constellation Energy have agreed to a 20-year nuclear power purchase agreement covering 690 megawatts, unlocking over $3 billion in infrastructure investment. The agreement will add roughly 190 megawatts of carbon-free generating capacity to the 1,790-megawatt Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center in Maryland between 2030 and 2032. The partnership follows Amazon abandoning plans to build a co-located data center campus near the site due to community opposition. The arrangement also includes retail supply for Amazon across the 13-state PJM market, while supporting a 20-year relicensing of the plant.
