Alphabet Appeals 2024 Google Monopoly Ruling, Shares Fall 1%

On May 24, 2026 Alphabet continued its appeal of the 2024 district-court ruling that found Google illegally maintained search monopolies through default deals with Apple and others. The D.C. Circuit filing challenges Judge Amit Mehta’s findings and the remedy requiring data sharing with rivals, potentially including AI firms. The DOJ is expected to respond in July; an adverse outcome could lead to Supreme Court review. Alphabet Class C shares closed at $379.38, down 1.07%, while Class A fell 1.21% to $382.97.
