Allianz Partners, Waymo team up on European robotaxi insurance

Allianz Partners has entered into a strategic collaboration with Alphabet subsidiary Waymo to develop tailored insurance, claims management, and vehicle safety research solutions supporting Waymo's robotaxi commercial expansion across Europe. Waymo is preparing for a phased commercial deployment beginning in Germany, with plans to expand its autonomous ride-hailing services to additional European markets over time. The partnership leverages Waymo's proprietary autonomous driving technology, the Waymo Driver, alongside Allianz's extensive insurance infrastructure, mobility assistance network, and safety research capabilities. The collaboration spans four key operational areas: customized motor fleet and product liability risk coverage, streamlined digital claims processing via Solvd Group, joint autonomous vehicle safety research and crash analysis via the Allianz Center for Technology (AZT), and vehicle recovery solutions. This agreement represents a crucial regulatory and operational step for Alphabet as it seeks to scale its autonomous mobility operations internationally beyond the United States, mitigating operational and liability risks through a premier European underwriting partner.
