Alexa+ lets you order food like a real conversation
Amazon has rolled out Alexa+, a voice-driven food-ordering feature that links Alexa devices to Uber Eats and Grubhub, letting users build, modify and track orders conversationally without opening apps. For investors, Alexa+ could raise Echo device engagement and deepen Amazon’s commerce ecosystem, potentially increasing order volume and ancillary revenue (ads, referrals, repeat purchases). Near-term adoption is limited — the feature is still rolling out and works best on newer Echo Show devices — and risks around data/privacy and easier impulse spending may slow uptake or invite scrutiny. Amazon positions food ordering as a beachhead for broader Alexa+ commerce use (groceries, travel), which could amplify long-term monetization if widely adopted.
