According to BlackRock, Bitcoin Is Still a Great Portfolio Diversifier. So How Much Bitcoin Should You Be Holding in Your Portfolio?

Global asset manager BlackRock has reiterated its recommendation that investors allocate 1% to 2% of a traditional 60/40 portfolio to Bitcoin as a strategic diversifier. The investment firm noted in a recent report that Bitcoin's price volatility has decreased over recent years due to increased institutional adoption and the widespread popularity of spot Bitcoin ETFs, making small allocations an attractive option for boosting overall portfolio returns without significantly expanding downside risk. The outlook comes amid renewed investor demand for the cryptocurrency, driven by mounting macroeconomic concerns. Bitcoin recently surged more than 22% over a two-week span as market participants reacted to July inflation rising to 3.3%, surpassing the Federal Reserve's 2% target. Compounding macroeconomic anxieties, the U.S. national debt crossed the $40 trillion milestone, and the U.S. Treasury Department moved to expand its long-term bond buyback program to steady nervous debt markets. These economic pressures have strengthened Bitcoin's safe-haven appeal alongside gold.
