A startup, Everand, is now bundling ebooks, audiobooks, and book clubs in challenge to Amazon

Scribd-owned Everand has launched a bundled reading subscription that combines its library of more than 1.5 million ebooks and audiobooks with Fable’s social book-club features (Fable was acquired by Everand in 2025). The combined plan, available to the two apps’ roughly 5 million users, includes tiered pricing — $11.99/month (one book), $16.99/month (three books) and $28.99/month (five books) — and preserves features like Fable Plus and credit rollovers up to six months. Everand positions the bundle as a direct challenge to Amazon’s Audible/Kindle/Goodreads ecosystem, aiming to deepen engagement and create switching costs by surfacing Fable’s ratings, reviews and clubs inside Everand. The move heightens competition in digital reading alongside entrants such as Spotify, and could pressure Amazon on product features, community integration and subscription pricing if adoption scales beyond Everand’s current user base.
